• 2.0 out of 5 stars from Reed -- If you want great stories about the Cosmos, this is NOT the book for you. : As a New Jersey native, I was a Cosmos season ticket holder from 1976-1984. I lived and died with the Cosmos every week. Steve Hunt was one my favorite players and I even had the pleasure of meeting him several times in the Stadium Club after the games. When I heard he wrote a book called "I'm with the Cosmos" and even had a photo of himself on the cover with his Cosmos Jersey on, I thought that I would be in for a treat and that great stories of the Cosmos were to follow. (Buzzer) Wrong. I'm sad to report that only a small section of the book, 18% (I did the math), has to do with his time with the Cosmos and those few pages reveal virtually nothing about the behind the scenes activities that were so interesting to those outside of the inner circle of the team. He talks a bit about some of the players he played with while with the Cosmos but does not offer any new insight. His second stint with the Cosmos in 1982, where they won another Championship gets glossed over in less than 10 pages. This was a great opportunity to "tell it like it was" regarding the worlds most famous soccer team back in those days, and he falls way short. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2021 )

What a trip down memory lane: Geoff Vowden, Trevor Hockey, Ron Wylie, Charlie Aitken and many more. The book is well researched and covers a wide of crucial issues relating to the development and future of the game. Of course, alongside this, it has to be seen for the wonderful modern fairytale that it surely is. A skinny kid from inner city Birmingham has his dreams, seemingly, crushed only to be catapulted across the world to the gleaming towers of New York to play with the kings of football and rub shoulders with Jagger in Studio 54. Not only play with Pele and Beckenbaur but to win their respect and high regard. At the end of the book l still felt that the real hero isn't Steve, Best, Springsteen, uncle Dave or his best mate Dean. It's surely got to be his amazing mum, solid gold! • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Steven Dyer -- Great tales : d this for my father, who was a semi-professional footballer in the seventies and had the chance to play In the United States at the time Steve Hunt was there. My dad loved this book, especially the tales of Hunt's exploits in America playing with the likes of Beckenbauer and Pele. My dad also being a die-hard Aston Villa fan also found Hunt's experiences playing under the likes of Ron Saunders enlightening. Highly Recommended. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 6, 2021 )

• 5.0 out of 5 stars from anna -- Pleasantly surprised! : A really good read. I brought this book as I am a work colleague of Steve’s and I wanted to be supportive. As I am not a huge fan of football I wasn’t sure how interesting I would find it. All I can say is I was very pleasantly surprised! Steve’s story is fascinating.
